Delete your account
Last updated: 10 September 2026
This page explains how to delete your Swivvy account and the data attached to it, and what is kept afterwards. It applies to the Swivvy mobile app.
Delete your account from inside the app
- Open Swivvy and sign in.
- Open Settings, then Account & Profile.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm when asked.
Deletion runs immediately. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore an account afterwards.
If you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to the app or to the address on the account, email hello@swivvy.app from the address you registered with and ask us to delete your account. Tell us the email address on the account and, if you can, the username.
We may need to verify that the account is yours before acting. We will confirm by email once it is done, and in any case within 30 days of your request.
Deleting some of your data without closing your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove individual data:
- Delete an expense, a settlement or a receipt image from the expense itself.
- Delete a group you own, or leave a group you do not.
- Remove your profile picture, payment handles or username from Settings, then Account & Profile.
- Remove a contact or a blocked user from your contacts list.
For anything you cannot remove yourself, email hello@swivvy.app and we will action it within 30 days.
What is deleted
Deleting your account removes:
- your profile: display name, username, email address and profile picture;
- your payment handles, including any UPI, PayPay, PayPal, Wise, Revolut, Cash App or ZaloPay identifiers you saved;
- your contacts and any users you blocked;
- outstanding debt requests you sent or received;
- your notifications and your push notification tokens; and
- any group you solely own, where no other signed-in member remains.
Where a group you own does still have other signed-in members, the group is not deleted. Ownership passes to the longest-standing of those members so that they do not lose their shared history.
What is kept, and why
Expenses and settlements recorded in groups you shared are not deleted. Removing them would misstate what other members owe each other.
These records stay in the group, and the membership row carrying the name you used in that group remains so the history still reads correctly — but it is unlinked from your account, and it no longer connects to your profile, your email address or any other group. Your account itself no longer exists.
Retention
- Account and profile data is deleted at the moment you confirm, not on a schedule.
- Receipt images are deleted automatically 15 days after upload, whether or not you delete your account.
- Expenses and settlements in shared groups are retained indefinitely, unlinked from your account, as described above.
- Diagnostic and crash data held by our crash reporting provider is retained for that provider's own period and is not linked to your account after deletion.
